The Psychology
It has been proven that paying bi-weekly is easier than paying monthly, especially
for people on a tight budget or limited income. Many people who are not able to accumulate enough
money monthly to apply extra money toward their mortgage easily "find" the money
to pay every two weeks. It is more psychological than financial. Since the bi-weekly
payments are only one half the amount of a monthly payment, it is accululated without notice. Since
the "extra" payments are at the very end of those two months, and the next bi-weekly
payments are not be transfered until two weeks later, no large "lump-sum"
payments are transfered; the payments are still "spread-out", making it easier.
A lot of people are paid bi-weekly and therefore have more money to make bi-weekly payments, without
it "hurting" so badly.
